January 5, 2009: Sausage Recalled For Possible Listeria Contamination

DeNiro Cheese, Youngstown, Ohio, recalled approximately one pound of Sopressata sausage products on December 19, 2008, because the product may be contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.

The following sausage product was subject to the recall:
12-ounce approximate weight packages of "Nostrano SOPRESSATA MILD SAUSAGE, PRODUCT OF CANADA." Each package bears a use-by date of "07/09/09" and a product code of "91009" as well as "CANADA 476A" inside the Canadian mark of inspection.

The recalled sausage was produced on Oct. 9, 2008, and was sent to one Italian specialty retailer in Boardman, Ohio. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, can lead to a serious and sometimes life-threatening infection known as listeriosis.  Listeriosis affects primarily pregnant women and their fetuses, newborns, the elderly, and adults with weakened immune systems.

February 7, 2013: GoldCoast Recalls Blue Crab Spread Due To Listeria Contamination
On February 6th GoldCoast Salads, based in Naples, Florida placed a recall of their Blue Crab Spread because of testing positive for the bacterium, Listeria monocytogenes. 

January 31, 2013: Back To Back Recalls From Whole Foods Infected Salmon
On January 29th, Whole Foods Market placed their second recall in less than a week on Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon due to a contamination from Listeria monocytogenes.
